Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What happens to any ash/hair leftover after my jewelry is created?
A. Any ash/hair not used is returned to you with your finished jewelry.
Q. How much cremation ash is needed to create a piece of jewelry?
A. For a single ring or pendant that will include stones, 1/8th teaspoon is usually sufficient. The exception would be an 8mm/10mm ring over US 12 that is solid ash with no other stones. In this case, or for multiple items up that will include stones, send about 1/2 teaspoon.
Q. How many different stones or colors can I choose?
A. As many as you like! Most ring styles can accommodate multiple stone types/colors. For 4mm ring widths with minimal or greater ash visibility, it is recommended to choose no more than 2-3 stones/colors so the design doesn't look too muddy.
Q. What can I and what can't I do while wearing my memorial jewelry?
A. Your jewelry is very durable for normal daily wear but it's not indestructible. Following care instructions is VERY important to keep your piece looking great for years to come. Soap and warm water is perfectly fine, but extremely hot water and exposure to harsh corrosive chemical like chlorine, acetone (nail polish remover), bleach, and automotive chemicals should absolutely be avoided. Memorial rings should also be removed during activities like weightlifting, rock climbing and yard/farm work. Rings, beads and pendants should also not be worn in chlorinated pools or hot tubs. And NEVER clean your jewelry in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaning machine. Mild soap and water is the best cleaner!
Q. How long does the process usually take?
A. Once I receive your collection kit back, it generally takes roughly a week to 10 days for your jewelry to be created.
Q. Can I send my ash collection directly without waiting for the kit if I want my jewelry faster?
A. Yes! If you want to bypass the extra time needed for a collection kit to be shipped to you, just let us know, and we'll provide you with an address to send your collection directly.
Q. Can I have ash from more than one loved one in the same piece of jewelry?
A. Yes! Ash from multiple loved ones can be mixed in the same piece. Just let us know when you order how may collection jars you will need in your kit.
Q. What if something happens and my jewelry gets damaged?
A. Care instructions will be provided, but accidents happen. Natural inlay failures (though very rare) can also happen. But rest assured that we can repair almost any damage to your inlay. Any damage to your inlay not clearly caused by a failure to follow the care instructions, will be repaired at no cost for the first year. After the first year or if inlay damage was caused by a failure to follow care instructions, a charge of $50-$65 shall be required. *Damage from wear to the ring band itself or pendant base metals are not included.
